Autistic Child's Letter Poem by Paul Sebastian

Autistic Child's Letter

Mummy, I am a gifted child
Born uniquely of one kind
I see things quite differently
Maybe slow, but creatively

I am not like others, normal
I am God-created paranormal
My intellect's angle is sharp
Only my mummy can grasp

My mummy's look touches my heart
Sometimes I wonder what's what
Best of me is made by her love
Extraordinary love, from God above

In tears, she worries about my future
Wondering who'd care and nurture
I promise her I would do my best
Confident God would do the rest

Mummy, do you see my drawings?
The stars I got for my paintings?
See my improved hand writing?
Didn't you say: I am a blessing?

Mummy, I trust you trust Almighty God
I will be a miracle, your prayers wrought
Like a pretty butterfly, fly out of cocoon
Pray, Mummy, I would be set free, soon
