Avoiding Truth Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Avoiding Truth

Those proud and accepting,
Of their true identity.
Are seldom found or seen protesting,
The effective contributions made...
By their neglected ancestry.
Omitted from being documented,
Purposely to prevent this mentioned...
In a history re-written.
Giving fiction more attention.
Leaving facts subtracted and left unknown.
While consent and approval,
Is condoned and given...
To the ones parading advocating division.
And their racist beliefs created from teaching,
Myths.

Only to expose people like this,
Preferring isolation.
Avoiding truth that exists.
With a hope deception kept pursued,
Continues to threaten reality to undo it.
To one day realize in a future that comes,
Their own self defeating had been welcomed.
As clear as the sky above is blue!

Avoiding truth and its existence.
Does not often benefit one's mental health.
Or provide bragging rights.
To anyone who perceives,
Mental illness is an entitlement.
And not a disease.
Permitted to become an epidemic!
