Awoken From A Dream By Rain Poem by Alexander Thomas

Awoken From A Dream By Rain

Rain drops dancing over my twilight pool,
The capricious draft of memory sweeps,
Slumped a top the night's faithful mule,
Striding over blankets bundled in heaps,
From an echoing patter the soul thirsts,
Into a dream a mournful destiny weeps,
A bubble of consciousness rises and bursts,
Slowly the rousing light of day seeps,
With the warm bosom of rest to tussle,
From the cuddling arms of many long sleeps,
By a nearing distance restless toes rustle,
Into a new body of life the heart leaps.
