Baby Girls And our Society. Poem by Nabakishore Dash

Baby Girls And our Society.

Rating: 5.0

Human females produce
only one type of eggs
having a single 'X 'sex
chromosome.
Contrary to it, males generate
two types of sperms,
with either' x' or 'y' as their
sex chromosome.

If x egg meets with x sperm,
the result is xx,
a female.
When x egg is fertilised
by y sperm,
the combination is xy,
a male.

In nut shell,
presence of y makes man,
absence of y makes woman,
the hereditary basis
of gender determination.
The apparent fault is with
the father, not with the mother,
as he fails to ejaculate a strong
and viable' y 'containing sperm,
in human reproduction.

But the mother's are blamed
in most of the Indian families
when baby girl is born.
Prenatal sonogram reveals the
sex of the child in womb,
pregnant mothers are
subjugated to harsh tests,
compelled to go for abortion,
a serious social crime is done.

Health of mother jeopardized,
balance in sex ratio
is distorted,
misunderstandings take place
in family and society.
At the end societal heinous
acts like abduction of females
and rape are on the rise in
our community.

Even tender aged girls
and old ladies of ninety years
are the victims.
The accused must get the
severest punishment in
order to restore the harmony,
stop exploiting the women
and put an end to horrendous
crimes.

I like how you presented this poem, Sir. So brilliantly composed and rightly narrated. A wake up call to all especially to those male dominated countries.
