Back For You Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Back For You

Rating: 3.8

In my experience
It's all about where you've been
that creates who you are
and I don't really know where I'm going,
I don't mind.
Listening to jazz above the Atlantic
feeling at ease in the meantime
inside my head
passing by an endless sunset
orange horizon in the sky
and the clouds stay still like a marshmallow heaven below..

I had a dream that I died
I was insane, always crying
cause you stole the purple rose that sparkled in flames between my thighs
It was not alright
but not today
Blue skies and I am cooled down but alive
praying to find comfort in a home from a time before
with my old friends who have night til dawn souls.
Their little doll is on her way
dreaming of the waves in a dance with magic pills pulsing through my veins
and the bold lights that rock to the sound of an electric paradise.

Dizzied by the motion of a strange return to who I might have been before-
me, but not how I used to do,
oh how my mind and behaviour has grown to so much more, like wild fire my thoughts have been devoured by kisses and drugs,
wandering around the world daringly just for fun

I get a kick out of doing what you've got to do to survive
A cheap thrill that tends to temporary happiness,
to feeling divine.
These people along the way are all that matters in this game we keep trying to play.

I'm coming back for you,
to unleash a little more of the song I've found, I'm working on.

I'm coming back for you, not for long,
I'm coming back to see if I can figure out how to find where the beat of my heart might belong.
