Back In The Future (Part Three) Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Back In The Future (Part Three)

Man chronicles tomorrow today
Shadows line the corners of the castles
No! The sky-scrappers in their hi-tech apparels
Shadows of men, in their multitudes
Populations of men on empty bellies
Wants supersede needs
Man unknowingly returns to barbarism
He battles himself, his woman, his boy and his girl
Rat race, arm race, nuclear race and sicknesses
He invents many schemes for his survival
In his heart lie greed, treachery and wickedness
Man heals his sicknesses in mutations
All, in futility
The universe turns a mere space
Inter-galactic journeys rid his fears
But his earth is an endangered species
Imminent scourge and holocaust
His search for the unknowns is unending
It takes him everywhere and anywhere
Places he never thought or dreamt of
But wait! What does the future holds?
Vanity upon vanity
