Back In The Present (Part Two) Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Back In The Present (Part Two)

Fire ignited immeasurable transformations
And change was inevitable
Man formed his height
His woman refused to let go
Feminine struggle rivaled masculine strength
Forests turned cities
Infested by shouting sky-scrappers
Man developed wings to fly the skies
And gills to navigate the waters
He transformed metals to fluids
And created giants from them
Girls wished for boys
Boys took pleasure to the mountains
Morals back-stepped into The Books
Knowledge and rationale grabbed man in firm grips
The name that was given was renaissance
Though fear and ignorance took the fly
But man, his woman, his boy and his girl bite too much
And the chew is choking! ! !
