Baggage Poem by Jane Johnson

Baggage

Rating: 3.5

I have erred long ago, finally I must let it go.
I see then I didn’t know, and now I will be free.
Extra baggage as I go, only serves to make me slow.
I make the choice to let it go. The choice is up to me.
Hatred, discord now will be, changed to love and harmony.
In my hand I hold the key, the key that unlocks me.
Like a bird I will fly free, nothing weighing down on me,
Baggage gone, how light I’ll be, the wind will carry me.
Baggage that I left behind was filled with thoughts that were unkind,
I let them go to free my mind, became a lighter me.
