Tiger Lily

Bathed In Moonlight

Meet me in the night
As twilights glow drops off
Lay me down in soft descent
Upon the sage soaked moss

For lilac lies there sweet
Bathed in moonlights brilliance
In secret where we meet
Longing for loves reunion

Violet petals rest ajar and bright
As you feed them to my lips
In that still and tender night
They part by fragile fingertips

The midnight hour calls
So silently it beckons
Meet me in the night
To blend there in the darkness

Poet's Notes about The Poem

'Already with thee! Tender is the night …
…but here there is no light,
Save what from heaven is with the breezes blown
Through verdurous glooms and winding mossy ways.'
Ode To A Nightingale

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

When the hours of Day are numbered,

Wake the better soul, that slumbered,
