Be ME

I live in a world of darkness.
Where I hide myself from reality
I live in a world full of heartaches,
Tears,
Secrets,
and fear.
The real me is hidden in the shadows,
crying for help,
to break free,
But no one can hear the cry of my voice.
It is hidden deep inside me and I need to find it.

I laugh, so no one worries
I smile to brighten everyone's day
I look up, because I know I'm strong.
When I'm alone, my silence breaks free,
I sit there and think of life
I hear my pulse,
I feel the soft, smooth air going through my body,
I hear laughter's
and see smiles.
Once I come back to reality,
I want to be someone that doesn't have a frown on her face,
I WANT TO BE ME..

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Throughout my life i use to just hide from people and let people walk all over I never really stood up to myself because I didnt know how. So I always had someone that made me what they wanted me to be. And I got tired of it so the years go by and I start to be confident with myself and find out who I am and just become that person. I dont know I remember I was crying when i was writing this and today I do know who I am I dont have a bunch of people controlling me and what I should and should not be doing.

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
