Bear Douglas Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Bear Douglas

Bear Douglas

Some tell me: "Be silent! "
Some want me to forget!

"Forgive them! "
Said Jesus!

From when Christians
Rule the world, they play:
"Head or tail? "

Regardless of the side,
They are only winners,
And the rest are loser!

I have my footsteps,
On the banks of river,
On each side a mountain,
Russia with Britain,
US and Soviet…

Each one worse than other!

Keep reading of heroes,
Of Douglas and Big Bear,
Two copies, exact same.

Feel ashamed and shiver,
In torso, everywhere!

Both against Britain,
Direct or indirect!

Big Bear, an Indigenous,
And Douglas, past slave!

Both fought for dignity,
Both wanted freedom!

The British fire,
And Brit's Children,
Burned Heroes until death.
