Beautiful Poem by shreya chauhan

Beautiful

Down the hill, standing by the river
I was thinking of doing something new.
I had all the time in the world to spare,
But what to do I didn't have a clue.

The time had stopped like the wind
Blankness had occupied my mind
I was aloof from the world
No work, nothing to be done
I just stood there
Beholding the still water,
It was extraordinarily calm
Numbness had suppressed my ears.
It was time to dusk
And the sun was setting in layers,
I saw it go down
Deeper into the river,
Swallowed, yet didn't complain
For it knew it will be wielded again
From the same place,
But at a different time
When birds would chirp
And, somewhere, clocks would chime
But I would still be here
Thinking of nothing,
Leisurely waiting for something to happen.
Peaceful though it was, but it vexed me
A busy life coming to a stand still.
The time proved less in a life meant for others,
But for oneself it seemed to move on its will.
It was all me, just me.
No one to care about, but also no one to love
Just the greenery around,
The meadows, tulips and doves.

It came up again-the sun
I saw it-yes!
I had never beholden such a splendid scene in my life,
But alas! There was no one with me to share the moment.
I was discovering something,
May be, my real self.
I was growing younger,
There was no tension, no fear.
Nothing to fuss about

The glorious shining ball
Would drown again.
And I will be the witness
It will return to light the world.
And I would still be here,
Aloof but merry, lone but satisfied
By discovering what really is-beautiful.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
how difficult for us it is to surrender the worldly pursuits?
how often do we lay ourselves in the arms of the nature? how much time do we spend with ourselves? and when we do all this...is it easy..? ?
