Down in the southern states there is
A crop that is just like gold
But there is a lot of preparation made
To the soil first I have been told
It’s not as easy as we think it is
But we’re thankful there are those
Who grow miles of cotton for products
Such as material in which to make clothes
Some farms have been dedicated for years
And after the soil is ready
Little cotton seeds go into the ground
They work at that land pretty steady
I have seen miles and miles of fields
And love to see those cotton bolls
I think about the old way to harvest
That soft and beautiful white gold!
