It was one of my regular walk days
sun, bright as polished brass,
burning away all possibility of dark thoughts.
Suddenly at the corner there she was
attractive, even beautiful, yet her dishabille
look enfolded her in a haunting air of sadness.
I couldn't help to notice her and even
take a second look, she seem to smile,
I got the feeling she wanted me to stop
but I ignored my feelings and continued
on my walk.
Next day I took a different route.
The day lacked the brightness of the sun,
mind struggling to keep away the dark
the gray day sported his usual, London fog.
For days or maybe weeks, I enjoyed
my walks and never thought of her,
that lonely gaze, nor did I
take that route again.
This morning I walked that same old route
not walked in weeks, and unthinking,
I came upon her empty gaze,
her appearance had now changed,
she looked renewed, polished, attractive,
she seemed to shine and smile
displaying a large sign, that read,
FOR SALE.
Sad! but glad you won't be alone any more.
