Bed's Edge Poem by Aaron Barth-Martinson

Bed's Edge

Rating: 5.0

It bothers me to know
That although we fall asleep embraced
My arm tucked up behind your neck
My face facing your upper back
My leg in-between your legs or blankets
That I wake up at the opposing end of the bed
At the bed's utter edge
With you reaching with claws
To pull me back in
To our 'cuddling' situation
Is my subconscious trying to holler out to me
How do we sleep compressed as one
Then wake up far apart
I numb from the cold
Without your bodily warmth
