Bedtime Story Poem by Leaking Pen

Bedtime Story

Once upon a time
Stood a tall man
With foolishness in his heart
And vanity in his soul.
He thought his feet never smelled bad,
Or sweat soaked his white tailored shirt.
Truly he believed to be
Nature's perfect creation.
He was full of himself,
Proud in his walk
And stern in his looks
Humility could not reach his kneecaps,
And clear blue skies reflected his visage.
Then one day into a nature's reserve he went for a walk,
Praising himself with song and poem.
He spotted an open clearing where
Next to it stood a majestic oak tree.
Suddenly as if his spirit was awakened from the dead,
And his binding pride was quickly unchained.
He had an awakening and received a clear vision
About what God's centrepiece is..
The Oak tree gives shades by stretching out its branches,
Where mammals shelter from the heat of day.
Small beetles crisscrossing its leaves,
While squirrels collect and store acorns for their winter food,
And seek protection from their predators.
A lovely maiden rests beneath seeking tranquillity,
And the Sun admiring the oaks tree outline.
Children play hide and seek while a picnic basket is being set up
And the soft breeze waltzes gently with the oak leaves.
And this is just tip of the iceberg…
No verse of mine can express the rapture our man felt,
On how much of itself the mighty oak tree extends.
By serving others and giving freely, and openly of oneself,
We become the centre of God's gravity.
