Before College: The Day After Poem by Brian Johnston

Before College: The Day After

Rating: 5.0

The Day After

A haunted wind moans softly through the trees
Its arms aware of new asymmetries,
The sea as if afraid hugs tight the shore
For missing are the victories of war.
With dusk, a fragment moon shines overhead,
No history, both time and men are dead.

If you would like to give this poem a rating, please do so in a comment that is separate from your regular comment if you leave one. Many poets, including myself, have been experiencing visits from hard to identify PH members who like to damage other's poem's ratings with illegal multiple votes of 1.0 and make a mockery out of normal voting. You voting in a comment field helps me to protect your rating of my poem which they wish to destroy. I know that this is a bit of extra work for you, but believe me it is appreciated.

Poet's Notes:
The first poem I ever wrote. Inspired by Nevil Schute's book ‘On the Beach.' The original poem misplaced, this version was created on Sept.5,2014.

Since Merov gave me a 1.0 rating I am interpreting that as the highest possible praise and have awarded this poem a permanent 10.0 that no one can touch.

Short but very revealing. Indeed the negative impacts of war to humanity cannot be overestimated. How could we live in a world full of atrocities and fear. There will surely be a better day in the future. Another masterpiece from the talented poet..... well done!
