Before I Leave Poem by Kylie Welch

Before I Leave

Help me see, as I fall,
where I'm falling.
Am I at the edge of something unknown
or am I unknown? Am I folded? Am I creased?
I think I am that,
and I am, to me at least.
But to you?
Maybe I am just that torn piece of paper,
as useless to you as a stranger.
Then what will the point be -
helping me gaze at my fate before I falter?
There will be no point at all,
but for you?
For you is the gamble of me worth the chips,
is my heart forever sealed between my lips,
is the fall worth the sudden stop and release?
I think all that you are will cease to cease,
and the mystery of it all will still wonder
and I will wander.
