Before The Dawn Poem by Erik Rodriguez

Before The Dawn

My eyes wander towards the sky
As time seems to drift idly by
These thoughts still linger in my mind
Of two strong hearts now intertwined

Minutes start to tick away
Still your image, in my mind, shall stay
For even ones darkest hour
Your smile is what would give them power

Hours disappear in a taciturn fashion
While in my heart, I hold great compassion
Towards she who could not hurt a fly
Yet for her friends, the greatest evil, she’d defy

The sun now rises as night become day
And I have but one more thought to convey
To my bed, I have now withdrawn
But my prayers are for you, before the dawn.
