Beneath The Fruit Tree

A fruit tree grows for all to see,
I pick a few for you and me-
The love I feel cannot be measured,
And in my heart you're held and treasured.

To live and eat the fruit is sweet,
To love you makes my life complete-
And when you say those magic words,
My blue sky fills with flying birds!

I live for you, and all the while
I'm dying just to see you smile-
Beneath the fruit tree we will stand,
In happy shadows, hand in hand.

The grass turns gray, the sky is dark,
We rest our heads against the bark-
The fruit tree sleeps, and so do we,
Goodnight my love, goodnight, goodnight...

Poem of the Day

poet John Gay

Friendship, as love, is but a name,
Save in a concentrated flame;
And thus, in friendships, who depend
On more than one, find not one friend.

A hare who, in a civil way,
