They’re trying to hold us back
They’re trying to discourage us
But you can’t stop the rain from falling
You can’t stop the winds from blowing
They’re trying to hinder progress
To delay the inevitable
But the ocean’s waves shall beat
Upon your dams
And tumble them down
You disparage me when I’m tired
Criticize me when I’m searching
You’ve cast your line
On the blind side of impartiality
Trotting through the unleveled
Playing fields of time
You have created
But you can’t stop the rains from falling
And you can’t stop the winds from blowing
You can’t delay the inevitable
And beneath the ocean’s waves
Shall envy drown.
