Betrayal, Crucifixion And Resurrection Poem by David Harris

Betrayal, Crucifixion And Resurrection

Rating: 5.0

What three words
emphasise Easter to all of us.
The three words we associate with it,
betrayal, crucifixion and resurrection.

Betrayal is what happens
when a friendship
is sold out by another
or lies are spread about our intentions.

Crucifixion is what we feel
when the backlash comes.
We feel the venting of someone’s anger
for something we have never done.

Resurrection is a process we go through
after the dust has settled.
We look around for a new start
somewhere nearer paradise.

As for those who betrayed us,
sadness now covers their brow
as they find themselves an outcast
for what they have done.

Maybe one day they might realise,
that things are not always, as they seem,
and they should leave well alone,
things of which they do not know.
