Bettered Poem by Ima Ryma

Bettered

In the 50's and 60's, she,
At a car dealership, found work,
Only woman in world of he,
Was an accounts payable clerk.
For the guys she became a source
Of pulling jokes and poking fun.
She kept her good humor of course,
Tried to be kind to ev'ryone.
She put up with a lot for sure.
Through all, she was so cool and calm,
No matter the putdowns on her.
I was very proud of my Mom.

She profited from a stock tip,
And then bought the car dealership.
