Beyond Non-Fiction Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Beyond Non-Fiction

Rating: 5.0

Is the world just like Western minds and Eastern wars?
Is it true that there’s no more beyond its borders?
Or did our eyes just see what lies in distant shores
And would just simply hear the myths of the waters?

Thunders roar and waves crash yet what sound do we hear?
Great smokes rise from great fires but what do our eyes see?
We tend to create fictions and live with wrong cheer
To go after self-made truth from reality.

And when we see the mountains with great fires unleash
As the valleys are covered by raging darkness,
From our tongues we curse God and tomorrow perish
Though we could have just taken our second chances.

The hour is coming near and time is getting late.
If we could just bow now before the God of all,
Then there’s no need to rely on flesh-defined fate
Because the same God will keep us from the dark fall.
