Remind the people to obey
Their rulers and authorities,
And do whatever that is good;
To slander not against the next,
To live in peace, be considerate,
And be humble unto all men!

We too at one time were foolish,
Disobedient, deceived, enslaved
By passions, pleasures of all kinds;
We lived in malice and envy;
We lived in hate and hated rest;
But when God’s love and kindness came,
He saved us not because we’re right,
But due to His mercy, so great.

He cleansed us and we had rebirth;
He poured the Holy Spirit through
Our Savior Jesus Christ enough;
The Holy Spirit renewed us;
We have hope of eternal life,
By being justified by grace.

Then stress these trustworthy sayings:
Trust in the Lord and be careful;
Devote yourselves to doing good;
These things will profit everyone.

Avoid controversies, quarrels,
Genealogies, arguments
About the law, as they’re in vain;
Warn a divisive person once;
Warn him again and thereafter,
Have nothing to do with him thence;
Such a man is warped and sinful,
You can be sure he’s self-condemned.

Final Remarks:

As soon as I send Artemas
Or Tychicus to you, do come
To me at Nicopolis then;
Do help the lawyer Zenas well,
And put Apollos on his way;
See that they have all things they need;
Teach people to devote themselves
To doing what is good alone,
So that they meet their daily needs,
And not live unproductive lives.

All those with me, send you greetings;
Greet those who love us in the faith;
Grace be with you in Jesus’ name!
