I felt you were dependable;
Almost asserted you were indispensable
To me you were unmovable;
In fact you seemed unshakeable!
Thence I assumed you would take
Any mistake I could make;
You looked like you could pardon
Even blunders that would sadden
I saw you as a big brother;
You were almost like father
Who would not bother
If with youthful imprudence I lather
'I was so wrong'-
That is my parting song!
My errors you did not pardon;
With compunction I am laden!
How I wish you knew better
Than to take my actions to the letter
Your ego I did batter
But recompense would have been the latter
By now would I have been holding you in high esteem
If only you had endured my anger's steam;
You'd still have, in my heart, a station
Had you lived up to your reputation!
