Big Egos Poem by Francis Duggan

Big Egos

Men with big egos I meet every day
Some in their prime, some middle aged and some ageing and gray
And those with big egos not hard to recognize
Body language expose traits I have come to realize
Men with big egos many in every town
Their hair may be black, foxy, blond or gray or brown
They do grow older but they don't grow wise
Their swollen egos to arrogance give rise
Men with big egos live on every street
They live enamoured in their self conceit
Big egos in the pubs and shopping centres and in the park playing cricket and football
Though ignorance is bliss or so they tell us and pride it always comes before a fall
Big egos as per usual in abundance the truth is one can meet them anywhere
And I should know as I have a big ego and fellows like me have never been rare.
