Big One Poem by Ima Ryma

A single organism is
A grove of quaking aspen trees.
So biggest living thing on quiz
Is a grove in Utah one sees,
Forty seven thousand trunks that
Are all connected by roots same,
Called Pando in this habitat,
Meaning 'I spread' in clonal aim,
O'er thirteen million pounds of weight.
As old trunks die, new trunks do sprout,
But do be threatened by graze fate,
Eaten by animals about.

Perhaps humans will find a way
To keep too much grazing at bay.
