Bill B Poem by Francis Duggan

Bill B

Bill B when he's at the local pub talks of his awful life
and when he has a few drinks in he badmouths his ex wife
She left him with their Primary schoolgoing son and daughter about a year ago
Her side of the story of their marriage breakup different to his and she has the proof to show

That Bill was a wife beater of which he does deny
He was bound to the peace for assaulting her the true facts never lie
She has a new man in her life and she has found love and happiness
She says the only things she knew with Bill were abuse, tears and stress.

Bill does not have too many friends except for Shep his faithful dog
And his drinking mates Phil, Joe and Mick and his cigarettes and grog
His pub mates like him are divorced and they too talk of their awful lives
And just like Bill they feel hard done by and they badmouth their ex wives.

Birds of a feather flock together those words in Bill's case true
He and his mates swap their untruths of the hard times they've been through
Though their ex wives who have all found new men have a different story to tell
Of men who they say who abused them their lives with them were hell.

Bill B down at the local pub he tells of his hard life
One with the victim attitude he badmouths his ex wife
Whilst she has found true love at last and she feels happy with her lot
Though the beatings she received from Bill she has not yet forgot.
