Bird 16 - The Tranquil Swans, Ducks & Geese Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Bird 16 - The Tranquil Swans, Ducks & Geese

Rating: 5.0

Often, during my nature walks,
Around lakes and parks,
I stop and stand to watch,
The swans, ducks and geese,
The tranquil birds of Anatidae family,
Moving through water with such calmness!

As the swans float calmly through water,
As if sailing on a serene boat,
As if floating among the pearly clouds,
As if gliding with birds of heaven,
Absolutely without any effort or force,
Astonishingly collected and composed!

Looking at them,
I learn a lesson of life!
No point hurrying or chasing,
No point grabbing or snatching,
Move at your own placid pace,
Manage your life with tranquillity and peace.

Natural tranquility doesn't mean soundlessness. In a tranquil environment what is lacking is those that upset one's mindfulness. Watching birds in their natural modes is a meditation. How nice to note that you are one who loves such wonderful things in nature. I truly enjoyed the poem. Thank you for sharing.

Move at your own placid pace, Manage your life with tranquillity and peace.... //.... Awesome and brilliant. It thrills the reader with its beauty of portrayal e.g. the way it swims, tinge of research and its motivational value based on the poet's own observation and its application to our life. A classic creation. Thanks.

Such a great verse, Geeta. I've always thought that birds on the water manage to display a calm that seems missing when they move into the sky.

Stupendously magnificent work ma'am. This lesson I too learned ma'am. My life is mine and it has its own gradation. I need not need to prove my self but just catch-up my pace and fulfill every phase just the way it's written in my book of life. Thank-you ma'am for sharing.

Looking at them, I learn a lesson of life! No point hurrying or chasing, No point grabbing or snatching, Move at your own placid pace, Manage your life with tranquillity and peace. When we see nature's perfections we feel all our efforts to make life tranquil in a hurry is less successful than to wait and let things take their own turn...10
