Bittersweet Poem by Amanda Jackson

Bittersweet

I breathe, but I gasp for air
I hold you and find you're not there
You cover my mouth when I am screaming
You are my nightmares when I am dreaming

When I'm happy, I cry for you
I would live, but I die for you
Like the pleasure in my pain
An insane kind of sane

You always push when I pull
You are empty when I am full
I hate what I love and love what I hate
I smile when I'm angry and cry when I wait

You are dry when I am drenched
I am thirsty when you are quenched
Satisfaction with a need
Like my leader who misleads

When I speak, you cannot hear
When you're close I'm never near
You put life in my death
Yet you take away my breath

You are the honesty in my deceit
You are my love, my bittersweet
