Blood Stained Feathers And Broken Wings Poem by C.Ann Penning

Blood Stained Feathers And Broken Wings

Bound and gagged no one hears her cries
A smiling mask hides the pain inside
Build the walls that no one can break
A tortured prisoner, there’s no escape
A fight to survive and break these chains

Will she be strong or go insane?

Tries to carry on like everything is fine
Hope for freedom, her last lifeline
Blood stained feathers and broken wings
Deep inside her soul still sings
She dreams of the life she hopes to find
Soars as a bird in the open skies
The sun above the wind below
How far she’ll fly is still unknown

Agony of a caged bird is depicted beautifully in this verse. But I think it's more of a symbolic one. Nice imagery
