Blue Faced Honeyeater - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Blue Faced Honeyeater - Lincoln Park Zoo

A blue faced honeyeater who
In truth is a bug eating bird
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo.
Honey eating might have occurred
Long ago in Australia far
When my kind to a campsite came
And was seen by a honey jar.
So some human gave us the name.
That human got the blue faced right,
With the blue mask around the eyes,
Quite pronounced and easy to sight
When each of us reach adult size.

When the keeper brings bugs for lunch
This is a blue face primed to munch.
