Broken Butterflies Poem by Savannah Leigh

Broken Butterflies

It started as Butterflies,
But now it just hurts.
Played with as if they were a ragdoll.
But their not.
It started as love,
But now its just pain.
This girl who used to feel,
Now lives in a shell.
Trying to protect herself,
From getting hurt.
Again.
It started at laughter,
And turned into tears.
Tears and screams and cries and cuts.
All from the man that poised her love.
He took a step back,
In perfect time for her to step forward.
She locks her knees, opening her arms.
Putting in all her love,
Her trust,
Her dignity,
Her life,
Her everything.
Just as she fell forward.
She used to be a butterfly,
Fluttering through the open air.
Drinking nectar from nearby daisies in the meadow.
She used to be a butterfly.
Who fluttered around inside my stumache.
When I neared you she would fly.
Her wings beating at 100 miles a minute.
But someone broke her wings.
Someone so heartless, so emotionless,
Somebody with the black hole,
Ripped off her beauty,
Her wings,
Her dignity,
Her love,
And her trust.
It used to be Butterflies,
But now its just Pain.
