Broken FRI END SHIP

The one that I loved was not selfish
nor did he have the deepest vain
he held out his heart on a platter
in hopes i would take it away
written inside this little heart
was our note that our love wouldnt lack
it read 'i gave you this heart
in hopes i wont get it back'
it said if returned broken
shattered or empty with fear
hold it empty in your body
and let it leave single tear by tear
for i know your the love of my life
and no second thoughts will that change
please take this trembling heart
and promise you wont give it away
i read this note very slowly
hoping to catch every word
on the tip of your tounge i did listen
every letter of love understood
the hours passed by like a second
dreaming the structure of smiles
now that your gone i cant breathe
and hours now feel like whiles
whiles of dreaming of your face
staring deeply at the blood red skies
whiles of drowning in oceans
and truly felling the cries
i loved the one that is now gone
i have always loved him

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
