Broken Promise Poem by Bri Marie Ormsbee

Broken Promise

You promised me you’d follow me into the dark.
And you brought a flashlight because we’re both afraid of the terrors we’d embark.
You grabbed tight to my hand, telling me and letting me know that you’re here forever.
By saying I was yours to hold.
But now the beam of our flashlight is beginning to fade, and soon the batteries will be dead.
And this will just be another game you played.
And your tight grip n mu hand is no longer there.
I guess my life wasn’t one to spare.
Soon we will lose each other to the dark.
And I have a feeling that’s how will stay, you and me forever apart.
