Burden Poem by Yawar Maajed

Burden

Hey, this is me,

Entombed far beneath the earth's crust.

Look, that's you,
Ascending, reaching for the heavens.

Hey, here I am,
The one who nurtured you,
Cradled your growth,
Sacrificed nights,
Let go of my own dreams.
Dreams once vivid and full of life,
Steeped in the freshness of celestial dew,
Brimming with the youthful vigor of spring.

Look, into my eyes,
See the lingering twilight of countless nights.

Hey, this is still me,
Supporting the fortress of your destiny,
With these weary shoulders.

Me, forever anchored,
Deep at the heart of the earth.
