Burdened With Guilt Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Burdened With Guilt

“Oh Lord my God I’m back once more
Again I’ve done You wrong
Just like a fool I’ve broke Your law
And cannot sing my song

I love You Lord, although my crime
Would seem that I don’t care
But yet I know that all the time
In truth You’re always there

You’re with me in the fire Lord
You tell me when I stray
I know; and now can ill afford
To lose You on the way

Around me is the cage I’ve built
With doors of fear shut tight
The walls of shame of burning guilt
Withholding Heaven's Light

I’m burdened down with all I’ve done
You’ve seen how much I’ve cried
From Heaven's Truth Ive tried to run
But found no place to hide

Come help me through my trials today
My heart’s so full of pain
Please hear these tearful words I pray
Allow me try again

Allow Your presence flood my soul
Let darkness takes to wing
Allow forgiveness make me whole
Life’s song once more to sing

Whilst yet there’s breath I’ll cherish hope
Once more You’ll set me free
With grace my God I know I’ll cope
To walk and serve but “Thee”.
