But For A While Poem by Michael P. Johnson

But For A While

Dancing, singing whiling here
Searching for peace and love
Living; walking, midst joy, and fear
Beneath the stars above

Sometime or other we ponder
Gazing up in the sky
Is truly a God out yonder?
Creator of you and I?

Is Heaven fact, is Jesus real?
Was the crucifixion true?
Are prayers heard, each sinner's appeal?
Can life begin anew?

Through sin! We live, condemned to die
Both you my friend and me
Beneath the eyes of love on high
Testing each soul born free

As Father! God wants us seek His face
To know, to feel His love
To enter, run to win life’s race
To shine like stars above

These facts may sound far fetched to you
Hearing man's thoughts in schools
But through Christ Jesus, life anew
Can heal the minds of fools

Will heal deaf ears, give sight the blind
Cleanse foulest heart and soul
Will raise the dead from lost mankind
Into life's waiting Goal

God's Word, heed well and understand
Life's living truth and love
Open your heart, take Jesus' hand
Till safe and sound above.....
