Burning Poem by James Grengs

Burning

Rating: 3.3

Burning, the ache of muscles overused-
I am weary in walking.

Burning, the ache of sleep withheld-
I am weary in waking.

Burning, the ache of a heart abused-
I am weary in loving.

I burn, I ache, I scream.
Yet the pain,
Lacing through my every nerve,
Is my lover-
It embraces me, reassures me,
Whispers to me in the dark,
Reminding me of
Humanity.
