Burnt Tortilla. Poem by G.S Ortiz

Burnt Tortilla.

The desire to be live free from ones own self doubt, burns at first with glowing embers that are ignited a 100 times a day.

Years could pass before one eventually takes hold.

It burns as a small glow,
then when no one is looking comes alive with the sole purpose of putting everything a blaze.

It's in the ashes that fall from the sky blanketIng everything resembling a child's winter dreamscape.

Heavy ashes falling wave after wave are nothing but the burnt remains of all the self doubt, self loathing, and self destruction.

The once heavy burdens carried away with the gentlest of breezes.

Made fragile is what was thought to be indestructible and immovable.

If one could feel what I feel standing upon this mountain top of ash.

You too would set a fire and risk the destruction of all for just one more chance.

A chance even if it's just a million to one for redemption, take it!

Sometimes all you need is a spark and a chance to start it all over again.

Redemption is so close,
Take the first step,
take it!

Take back what is yours.
Take back what could be.
Take back a life of peace.
Take it and what you take will be yours forever.
