But We Never Met Poem by Colin Coplin

But We Never Met

You say you know of me, if true, the pleasure I am sure would be all mine
You say you've been with me, if so, I would remember it for some time

But we've never met, mistaken you must be
Yes we've never met, mistaken identity
No, we've never met, regrettably

You say you saw me, and we shared a story, that's really very kind
You found me enchanting, even tantalizing, you even read between the lines

But we've never met, mistaken you must be
Yes we've never met, mistaken identity
No, we've never met, regrettably

Word on the street has it, you got a reputation now, please use it sensibly
You told the world, about us, funny how instantly credulous, the world can be
I wish you well, and if we should really meet, only then interested what you think of me, I would be
But for now, I can set the record straight, no it wasn't me, regrettably

No, we've never met, mistaken you must be
Yes, we've never met, mistaken identity
No, we've never met, regrettably
