Drift upon the breeze
like gentle whispers heard in the wind.
Taking you high through the trees
bringing you down low among the flowers.
You caress my cheek softly, gently.
I feel you, I know you are here.
Fly high my butterfly, fly high
I reach out, touch the velvety softness of your wing,
gracefully you glide into my outstretched hand.
Your wings dancing to the beat of my heart, .
a tender kiss of love for my aching soul.
I feel you, I know you are here.
Fly high my butterfly, fly high
The flight of gossamer dreams
are you, with your wings of yellow and blue.
You are what you seem,
the spirit of my beloved child, so true.
Comforting all who believe.
I feel you, I know you are here.
Fly high my butterfly, fly high
What a lovely tribute. What caught my attention was Lily-Rose. When I have a daughter that will be her name. So your poem touched my heart as what is to come. Thank you!
A nice attempt, Belinda, but not terribly original in either subject matter or imagery.
This is nice, Belinda. It has a butterfly feel about it...light and lovely. Raynette
Wonderful work, Belinda. I enjoyed this immensely. You must show us more. -LP

I was looking for a poem to read at a dear friend's funeral and your poem said just what I was feeling. I did change 'child' to 'friend' when reading it. Many came up to me after and said it was beautiful and perfect. My friend's daughter came up to me and told me that just the night before her best friend's mom had e-mailed the poem to her so she would know her mom was always with her. Can you imagine...with all the poems out there that two of us would chose Butterflies and Hearts! I don't think this was a coincidence. The beautiful message helped us with our sorrow. Thank you!
