Butterfly Poem by Nona Vaught

Butterfly

Rating: 5.0

Tiny rainbows that take to flight
Appearing now with summer skies
Precious hours of daylight to squander.
Assume a casual attitude.
Transparent wings exhibited
Balanced with symmetric proportions
Free, under a sky of content
Sculpture a striking tableau.
Silhouette manifestation
Converging picturesque forms
Indolently dawdling leisure
Smother the flowers with a kiss.
Climb imaginary stairways
Suspended by a rubber band
Breathless exaltation, it seems,
Unsurpassed by palatial kings.
