Psaltydog's Thoughts

Butterfly Blue - Poem by Psaltydog's Thoughts

As the cold dark morning dawns
A light across my window shines
And illuminates a butterfly
So out of place, so out of time

With soft blue wings
And a familiar beauty
Soft blue wings

I smiled as she flew by
With grace and courage in her wings
And cried as she fell
Hurt by words and other things

From flattering words
She would soar again
Flattering words

Days, weeks, and months flew by
Flew so fast from the start
Unaware of the silent words
Expressed between our hearts

It makes no sense
Look at the difference
It makes no sense

A dark cloud now veils my days
I see a long night approaching
Evening tears are flowing
My cautious heart imploding

Anger trumps
Even in little things
Anger trumps

In bewilderment I look back
And contemplate when, how, and why
And if for sure, I had fallen
Fallen for a butterfly

I am enthralled
There's no escape
I am enthralled

Poet's Notes about The Poem

This is the first of the 'butterfly blue' poems. An ongoing struggle where two lips are quiet and two hearts are screaming.
