By The Hand Poem by Stephanie West

By The Hand

I'm looking at you from across the room
The light shining on your hair
It's beaming on your face so I see it
So I close my eyes and you are there

The sound of your laughter, the way you talk
The way you talk to your friends
I want to be like this forever
Be with you until the world ends

Having a great time but my feelings are raging
You laugh and put your arm about me, my heart starts to race
I beg of my friend to take a picture so we all smile
I will treasure this moment and the look on your face

You are the colour in my cheeks when you look at me
Everytime I think of you, my heart starts to melt
If only I could pluck up the courage
To tell you how I felt

I whisper I love you in random conversations
Knowing you wont say it back
I try to get closer to you
So we'll be on the right track

I love you but I wont fall yet
Not until you give me a sign
Not until you take my by the hand
I tell me you're mine
