Cable Television Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Cable Television

963 cable channels to watch
Selections are numerous and vast
The menu is displaying a batch
What to view between first and last?

Old movies… you’ve seen more than a few
Saw that scenario with a variety of casts
Something new…you’ll have to pay to view
Action packed with cursing and guns that blast

Cooking shows that make your mouth water
Rich and buttery, cream filled sweet desserts
Artery clogged vessels say, what does it matter
Interviews featuring doctors with health alerts

The weather channel is predicting a storm
Hurricanes are seeking tropical islands…
Destroying paradise seems to be the norm
Earthquakes rock cities until nothing stands

Breaking news; unbelievable and distressing
Humans behaving worse than crazed animals
Hunger and pain, with untreated wounds festering
Shouts from enraged militants hoisting an arsenal

A darkened screen gives the most satisfaction
An exhausted remote lies silent by your side
The absence of constant dialogue offers relaxation
A good book or a walk will help frustration subside
