Called To Serve Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Called To Serve

Rating: 5.0

“When serving self, you fail to see
Nor care; how others fare
But Jesus comes to set you free
Your services to share –Jn.13: 5-17

How can you say the job’s not mine?
The flock’s not mine to feed? –Jn.10: 12
It’s not for me to pour life’s wine?
Nor spread Salvation’s Seed –Mt.28: 19

How long must Zion hear my cry?
My call to rise and shine
From lack of knowledge, many die
And all of them are mine!

Let no one be of any doubt
It’s through the church; they’ll know
My holy word has long gone out
Allow life’s water flow

The truth will set my children free
When Zion lends a hand
I’ll flood the rivers, fill the sea
And bring to understand

So spread the truth now far and wide
Sow deep my Seed of Light
Invite each sinner come inside
Restore the blind their sight

Receive the least in Jesus’ name
Even the tare and weed –Mt.13: 29
Cut free those bound in sin and shame
Show love to all in need

You’re called by grace to serve mankind
My sheep with truth to feed
So guide the lost, go tell the blind
To die, there’s no more need” –Jn.17: 20…
