Calls Of Assistance Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Calls Of Assistance

The calls of assistance have pleaded to you
To open the doors of dialogue and reason
There are no underlying factors to worry about
Only the future which steadily draws near
Many just like you have faded into obscurity
Preferring the joys and vanity of now
To the peaceful security of tomorrow
The calls of assistance drifts further away
It’s voice not as strong
Because the hopes have dimmed
And expectations have diminished
There is so much potential just idle and motionless
Waiting to be cultivated and harvested
As the black seeds of African loins
Succumb to the plots and schemes
Of our slave master’s descendents
What is it that we are searching for?
Happiness, personal accomplishments, money, love?
The calls of assistance
Seem further and further away
Soon too simply fade away with time
It’s voice barely audible
It’s pulse weakened
Because the hopes of many has disappeared
As the doors of dialogue and reason
Continues to close
