Calypso Poem by pragyan rout

Calypso

Rating: 5.0

She waits on a lonely isle
floating in the sky
where the gardens smile with flowers
but there's something behind those smiles

she's all alone here
no one to love, no one to care
only the nature who knows her sorrow
but they have no happiness to spare

she's been punished for deeds not hers
but her unruly father's who did tasks unfair
the poor child of the cursed one
a father who carries the sky up there

every once a while someone comes by
and her misery disappears for sometimes
but the fates never let happiness touch her
and she loses her savior every time

she still waits in the hopes of being free someday
waiting on the floating isle, looking over the bay
she will never give up hope that has kept her alive all this while
poor Calypso, the cursed child

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The story of Calypso, daughter of the titan Atlas appeals to me a lot.
